One turn, in order

  1. Draw from the pile until you hold five cards.
  2. Play onto the build piles from the top of your stockpile, from your hand or from the top of a discard pile, as many cards as you can.
  3. If your hand runs out mid-turn, draw five more and keep going.
  4. Finish by laying one card from your hand on one of your four discard piles.

Ways to keep score

One hand
The first player to clear the stockpile wins. No pencil needed, about twenty to forty minutes.
Race to 500
The winner of each hand scores 25 points plus 5 for every card left in the other stockpiles. First to 500 takes the game.
Partners
With four or six at the table, pair up and play the hand as teams of two.
Junior rules
Skip-Bo Junior counts only to 10, and its first level leaves out discard piles, so ages 5 and up can follow along.
Two players, fast
Skip-Bo Express is built for two per set, a whole hand inside a short wait.
Regular cards
No deck at the cabin? Two standard decks work: aces are 1, queens 12, kings wild, 20 cards each for two players.

Whole family will enjoy - easy to learn
This card game is a great pick for family game nights with all ages involved. Rules are simple enough for kids to pick up quickly but still fun for adults. Cards feel durable and have held up well through repeated shuffling and play. Games move at a good pace without dragging on too long. A classic that never gets old no matter how many times we play.

So much fun!
We have played this so many times! It is a great family game to sit down and play. We have easily gotten our money's value from this game with how much replay value you get from this game. Its a fairly short game that you can play several matches in an evening. Another bonus is that it is super easy to learn so anyone can play.

Easy to store
We needed some card games to play with granddaughters. This set of 3 games was just the right one for us. Love that all three fit in ONE tin! Easy to store.

Game is great and cute tin is useful.
Started playing this game and now addicted to it. The tin keeps everything together neatly and in one place. On our second deck of cards but of course use the tin.

So Much Family Fun
This is such a fun game to pull out on the weekends when the family rolls around for game night. It’s easy enough for everyone to enjoy, but just competitive enough to produce a little friendly frustration when somebody plays exactly the card you were waiting for. LOL! Phase 10 and Skip-Bo together give us plenty of variety and plenty of opportunities for a little good-natured family rivalry. Lots of laughs, a few dramatic sighs, and always requests for “just one more game!”

The Skip-Bo card game, explained for new families

A sequencing game with one rule

Skip-Bo is a family card game built on order. Every player has a private stockpile, the middle of the table holds up to four shared build piles, and each pile must climb from 1 to 12 without skipping a number. The classic deck holds 162 cards, twelve runs of 1 to 12 plus 18 wild SKIP-BO cards, and seats 2 to 6 players from age 7.

Because every pile is shared, you play your own cards and watch your neighbours' at the same time: holding back the 9 the next player needs is as useful as playing your own 8. That is the planning that keeps adults at the table long after the children have learned the count.

Which Skip-Bo edition to buy

The classic box is the cheapest way in. The storage tin keeps the same deck safe in a bag or a camper, and the Deluxe tin adds a scorepad and pencil for families who play to 500. Skip-Bo Junior is the edition for ages 5 and up, Mod plays with 112 cards and a die, and Express is a compact two-player deck.

For gifts and game nights, the bundles put Skip-Bo next to UNO, UNO Flip!, DOS or Phase 10 in one tin or one pack, so a whole evening of card games comes out of a single box.
